ST. MARY THE VIRGIN PARISH RECORDS
Southside (St.John's), Newfoundland, Canada
Transcribed by John Huxter
Photocopies of most of the parish records are held at the Provincial Archives, and it is from these photocopies that most of the data is taken. Some data from 1900 on was taken from transcriptions of vital statistics records, also held at the archives.
When transcribing these records, I searched for all Harvey records, and records of related families like Blackler. There are some entries relating to Harvey families which are NOT related to ours. Not all data from each record was transcribed (eg. all the witnesses at marriages) if I felt the family was not related, or only distantly related.
[Note: my own comments and intuitions are in brackets, like this!]
Births
Confirmations
Mariages
Burials
Note that dates given are birth dates. Baptism dates are shown only for records which were of particular interest to me at the time - my apologies!

The St. Mary's Parish registers were unusual in that they contained records of burials, albeit relatively few. These records are presented more or less exactly as they appeared in the register. I have identified a large portion of those mentioned as members of the family.
