This is a photo of a mother duck, who was standing in a shallow stream heavily shaded by magnolia trees at Duke University memorial gardens, July 2005. She had four young ducklings and was using this secluded area as her nursery. I achieved this shot using a tripod, no flash and very slightly extended exposure time. Even though it was very bright this day the stream was very dark from the trees.
These little fellows live on campus at Duke University, in the memorial gardens which has a large diversity of birds and small wildlife. After spending several minutes eating bread from tourists, they settled down on the banks for a nap.
This beautiful sunset was taken from the middle of another bridge parallel to and higher than this one. There were telephone lines hanging throughout the image that were removed with Photoshop.

Ducks swimming in the Oneida River near Syracuse, New York in late summer, 2005. It was evening and the sun was setting. The effect was magnificant.
This is a turtle who lives in one of the many ponds that cover the grounds at Duke University campus memorial gardens. His sedentary lifestyle has lead to the growth of moss on his shell. This thick patch of lilypads is in the middle of one of the ponds.
