The forthcoming Fiesta ST150 will most likely feature a de-tuned version of the duratec 2.0 currently fitted in the Focus ST170, and will complete the ST range of fords so fiesta, focus and mondeo will all have an ST model available. Similar to in the 1980's when XR Fiesta, Escort and Sierra were all available. There is also rumours from Ford of a Capri ST300 to be released in a couple of years (see www.st300.co.uk for more info).

Ford won't yet confirm which engine will feature, but we wouldn't be surprised if it's a diesel - Volkswagen, Skoda and Seat are selling sported-up versions of the Polo, Fabia and Ibiza with the 130bhp TDI PD engine, to considerable demand, and Ford is keen to promote its latest TDCI units. Ford is also denying that a Fiesta hotter than the ST150 is on the cards, and rumours suggest that a Fiesta RS project has been shelved. However, the ST150 will not be quick enough to be a serious rival to cars like the Peugeot 206 GTi 180, the MINI Cooper S and Renaultsport Clio 172, so you never know...
