The first prototype c/n K-01 took part in the World Class design competiton - the flight trials for this competition took place at Oerlinghausen in Germany in Sept 1992. The PW-5 Smyk won the fly off and became THE WORLD CLASS design |

This first prototype had a different canopy shape - production Smyks have a kinked shape at its trailing edge |

This is K-01 in latter life after in had been type certified and the registration had become SP-3575 - the unique canopy remains. |
