Smyk Production Bielsko1 - Politechnic Warszawa, Warsaw During August 2001, I visited Bielsko1 at their Warsaw facility. This is located within the Politechnic Warszawa ( ie PW ). The fuselage of each B1-PW-5 is built here. The wings are built at the Gorki Wielki facility near Bielsko Biala. Below are two jpegs of B1-PW-5 ship # 05 - the two fuselage halves have been joined together and some internal structures added inside the cockpit area.
Bielsko1 will delivery two B1-PW-5 Smyks to the USA during late 2001 - ships # 04 and # 05. Two B1-PW-5 Smyks are already in use with local aeroclubs at Warsaw and Rzeszow in Poland. The Bielsko1 PW-5 Smyk offers the following new features, Automatic hook up of all controls Built in tail ballast Total Energy ( TE ) probe Mecaplex high quality canopy Larger compartment behind pilots seat for stowage
Smyk History - "K-02" Also with Bielsko1 at Politechnic Warszawa is Smyk "K-02" - this non flying prototype is now used to assist with engineering tests - currently being used to assist with Oxygen installation. This Smyk was built alongside the original Smyk prototype "K-01" which first flew as SP-P575 back in September 1992
