Tour Dates 2003

orillia ontario canada

Hi: It's Carol.... the one that posted the pic's a while ago that were taken in hamilton ohio....anyway's not sure if anyone else got to the 2 casino rama concerts this weekend in orillia ontario canada, probably not... I think I am the only canadian on this list... anyway, just wanted to say I went to both the friday night and saturday night shows, both were great as usual!

He had them on their feet, which if you know the dead crowds and the tight security at cr this is usually not allowed. Anyway, a good time was had by all. Unfortunately I did not get to meet Dion this time as I did in hamilton ohio a few years back, but casino rama only allows friends of employees back stage or high rollers and since i am none of the above I did not get to meet him. If he had a fan club and gave out meet and greets like some of the other entertainers that have played there that's about the only way you can get back stage... oh well. I did run into a few of the band members though. Doin did mention that in the show that he was staying on the 8th floor, but I would have felt like a stalker if I went up there. It was different in hamilton, I was actually staying at the same hotel.

But I hope there will be another time. Anyway's, I saw him at ontario place in toront in 1992, and in hamilton ohio 3 years ago, and two times this weekend, and he just gets better every time! The were selling the masters cd and the deja nu, and a t shirt. I got a t shirt and the new masters cd discounted because they ran out and we had to wait about a half an hour for them to come back with more, so they nocked off 5 dollars! That was cool.

I did not take any photos this time as there are no photos allowed at the casino shows.

Both nights were sold out and both shows were great as usual! Like I said... he get's better every time I see him and I hope to see him again one day!

He is the best! Carol

Chicago

I check in often and read all the posts. I have only posted a handful of times and it has been awhile. PLEASE forgive me if this is too long but I just have to talk about this.

I just want to say that the show last night was AWESOME!!

I left my 7 month son with his Grandma overnight for the first time. I was so afraid I would regret leaving him, but we decided to go anyway.

Along with my parents and my husband, I travelled the 3 hours from Chicago and boy was it worth it! This is the thrid time I have seen Dion live but it will definitley be the most well remembered.

I was sitting in the Hotel bar with my husband waiting for my parents who stayed at another hotel a mile or two anyway. As I sat there talking about how excited I was with my "Sit Down Old Friend & You're Not Alone" CD in hand I looked up and saw this guy walk by who looked a heck of a lot like Dion. I said to my husband "boy, that looks like Dion, Oh my God, it is Dion!!!!!" As I sat there with my mouth open , my husband said "Go get him!" I was hestitant because I didn't want to bother Dion but it would probably be my only chance so I jumped up and ran like the wind and as Dion was getting on an elevator I was right in front of him Saying "I'm so sorry to bother you but..." Anyway I bothered him and got his signature and rambled on and cried like a teenie bopper. But, I love him that much! I couldn't get anything intelligent to come out of my mouth. As I stood there completley awestruck, all I could say was "I don't have a pen" I had a cd but I didn't have a pen!! Dion reached into his waistpack and drew out a pen, he signed my cd as I rambled on about how sorry I was to bother him, and other stuff I can't remember. I told him that I danced with my father at my wedding to his version of "Treasure of Love" (the only way I could think of to show how much his music means to me and mostly my father). Dion said that was sweet and was on his way. I stood there feeling like I was going to faint. I was disgusted with myself for bothering him but eleated because I just rode up an elevator with DION and stood right in front of him (something I have wanted since I was 6 and I'm 27 now.

My parents showed up 10 minutes later. Boy, was my father mad that he didn't meet us sooner and my mother almost convinced me to ride up and down on the elvator for a little while, but we didn't.

Between this moment and the show, I knew I was going to come on this board and tell Denise to please apolgise to Dion for my bothering him. Now I want Denise to tell him that I have never been happier in my life and my Father was brought to tears last night by Dion and his music like so many other times. Dion and his music has been there since the beginning of my life and is the bond between me and my Dad. He is the one constant thing that we will always have in common.

Dion told the crowd at the Peoria Civic Center of our meeting on the elevator. That I had danced with my father at my wedding to his song "Treasure of Love" and that I was here with my husband and mother, who's name is Susan. He then dedicated "Teenager In Love" to me. He said "this is for Joanna"

I'm on cloud nine, in heaven, my husband wishes I would shut up already about it, but I can't.

I always knew I loved Dion because he was a human being like all of us and acted that way. But he is SUCH a nice person and he was so sweet and boy, did he make my day, no, my life!

So many people on this message board have meet Dion so I probably sound like an idiot, but meeting Dion for me would be like someone else meeting the Beatles. I just wish I could have been a little bit reserved.

The concert was great. His vocals were sharp. I Wonder Why was suberb, right on the money. I don't know much about his band but they did a great job helping on the vocals for that.

His sonny boy was great as I read before along with his showing off his guitar ability on a few fats domino samples and then onto Blue Monday.

I'm not sure if he did this in Easton, but he did his own rendition of Amazing Grace which was a thrill for me. I have always wanted to hear him sing that ever since he sang a bit of it on Kingdom In The Streets.

The covers were great, jokes funny and band amazing, which he did announce but I couldn't quite hear.

The only draw backs to the performance was the fact that I sitting in front of three drunk women who kept on complaining and talking through the songs they didn't know. That and it seemed short. He played for about 1 hour and 20 minutes. But I will NOT complain I GOT TO MET HIM!!!

THANK YOU DION!!!!

Easton and Westbury Report

Dion looked & sounded great. Dion's new lead guitarist Al is awesome. Dion did (at Easton and both Westbury shows) "Don't Start Me Talkin'" (my favorite part of the show) & and "My Blue Heaven" solo on the Dion series Martin guitar as well as "Amazing Grace" morphing into a bit of "Sonny Boy" before going into "Love Came to Me". Dion hadn't rehearsed "Behind Susan's Eyes" from the new CD, so he recited the lyrics each night.

I liked the new rocker they did perform, which is not on the new album. He added "Be Bop a Lula" after "Runaway" for the second Westbury show, but he didn't really know all the lyrics. Jerry Lee Lewis could hardly be understood when he talked, but his piano playing and singing were good. He showed up 2 hours 40 minutes late for Friday's Westbury show so Dion agreed to go on first. By the time JLL arrived Dion had performed and left the building. BTW, Dion needs to change the spoken introduction to AM& J. He's been using same words since the early 1970s if not earlier.
