October 2003 - Taking the Opportunity by Peter Lillicrap, Curate
Jesus said, 'I have come that they may have life, and may have it to the full.'
October is here already and time is rushing by. The Summer Holidays are for most of us a dim and distant memory as the normal business of the autumn term takes over. By now the children are settled in to their new classes and are beginning to get to know their teachers.
For many of us a new school year brings thoughts about learning new things and perhaps trying to extend and challenge ourselves. The Church this September has run many special events including a men's breakfast, a big celebration service, harvest supper and a special harvest service and on the 28th September an evening service of remembrance. All opportunities to come and spend time with God and learn more about the Christian faith.
The children on a Sunday Morning in 'KWW.Kids' are starting a new initiative called the 'Y Course', where they are exploring big questions such as 'What does God look like?' I am really looking forward to finding out what they think!
We are also running an Alpha Course starting on 5th October at 7:00pm in the Village Hall. I always enjoy new Alpha courses, because it is a great opportunity to get to know people well, by sharing a meal and then asking those big questions in life. There are too few opportunities to do this and this provides a great chance to learn new things and to extend and challenge us, hopefully giving us new perspectives on life and how we live. It is all too easy to let these opportunities pass us by, so I would encourage you to think about what is important in life and make the time and space to come along on a Sunday evening. (please let us know if you intend to come).
Come and eat a meal, share time together, watch a video and ask those questions about God and life.
