"Threat to city hotel in Coningsby Street blaze"

That's how the "Hereford Times" announced a fire attended by green watch on the morning of Wednesday the 30th May at the Hereford house hotel, the fire brigade received the call close to half past ten in the morning and soon had four appliances in attendance. Fortunately they put in a good stop before the fire had a chance to spread into the hotel from the attached buildings where the fire had started.
