SURREY AREA BOWLING ASSOCIATION AREA ROLL-OFF

The Surrey Area Roll-Off to determine the representative squads for the Junior, YAC, Inter County Championship (ICC) and Senior teams for the 2003 - 2004 season will be contested at AMF Purley, on the weekend of 3rd and 4th January 2004. Pre Entry forms are available by download or any Surrey Area committee member and have been circulated to all Sanctioned League secretaries as well as being placed in many Surrey Bowling centres.

SURREY AREA ROLL OFF RULES

County Team Qualifying

 1.             The County teams will be made up of the following divisions; Junior, Young Adult (YAC), Adult & Senior both Male and Female. 

2.             Each respective division (both male and female) will include those bowlers who fall within the following age qualification groups 

          Junior – Under 18 as of 01/09/03 (Under 14 and Under 16  as of 01/09/04)

YAC  – Under 24 as of 01/01/04

Adult –  Any age

Senior – Over 50 as of 01/05/04 

3.             Juniors who wish to take part in the YAC/Adult divisions may do on condition that they produce a “junior/adult” BTBA membership card, or pay the prevailing additional membership fee. 

4.             Team selection will be based upon the following criteria; 

a)             Junior – final ten positions based on the overall results achieved by all junior entrants (12 games)

b)             YAC/Adult and Senior Men – final positions (YAC subject to under 17 rule) achieved by all entrants (12 games)

c)             Senior Ladies – final position achieved by all entrants (6 games, or in the case of entrants  entering for full Adult County team status also their first six games played from the 12 will count for senior ladies)  

5.             In all cases of the Junior YAC, Adult and Senior divisions only the top three qualifiers in each division will be guaranteed at least two games during the qualifying rounds. (YAC Subject to Under 17 rule) 

Rules and Regulations

6.             The roll-offs will be sanctioned by the BTBA and run in accordance with;

a) General playing rules & Tournament rules of the BTBA.

b) Inter-County rules and regulations (2002) 

7.             The roll-off is open to all those who meet the following conditions;

a)             Hold British citizenship.

b)             Born within the 1961 Surrey county boundaries or have been resident within said boundaries for at least 12 months. (Serving members of HM forces and dependants shall qualify after a six month residential period)

c)             Meet the appropriate age qualification given above

d)             Be a current member of the BTBA 

8)            The County roll-off Manager will be the Surrey Area Chairperson who reserves the right to cancel any squad and reschedule 

9)            Registration will commence 30 minutes prior to squad time on entry form. Entrants must show a current BTBA card, members who are unable to do so may participate on payment of the full prevailing BTBA membership rate 

10)           Any entrant arriving late will count their scores from the frame being bowled. 

11)           All entrants will move after each second game as directed by the tournament manager. If due to the number of entrants it becomes necessary to add an additional squad to those indicated on the entry form then details will be posted as soon as they are available. 

12)           Normal accepted dress codes apply. Denim or sleeveless shirts are not allowed. Failure to be correctly dressed will result in entry being refused without refund of fee.  

12a)         Disputes and protests must be made within 30 minutes of the game in which the infraction took place and must be submitted in writing within 72 hours to the County roll-off manager. The decision of the County Association will be final, subject to appeal to the BTBA. A provisional ball may be bowled if a dispute on pinfall or a foul cannot be resolved immediately. 

14)           No persons other than the registered entrants are allowed in the seating or approach area during the event. All entrants are reminded that food and drink is not allowed in the playing area and there will be no smoking or consumption of alcoholic beverages for the duration of the roll-off by any competitor. BTBA Rule 333 applies. 

15)           Lane maintenance will be carried out prior to the start of all squads 

16)           Entry fees will be non-returnable after squad times have been accepted. An entry may be sold to an eligible replacement with the County roll-off mangers approval. In the event of illness or injury an entrant may alter their entry to the remaining date after first notifying the County Roll-off manger providing there are sufficient spaces available.  

17)           Cheques to be made payable to “Surrey Area Bowling Association” or “SABA” The closing date for entries will be postmarked 19th December 2003. Entries may be accepted exceptionally after this date providing there are sufficient squad times available, they are no later than Friday 2nd January 2004 and the County roll-off manager approves entry.  

18)      Squad times will only be confirmed if different from those required with entry form. However if the entrant contacts by telephone or email the squadding manager he will confirm squad times, but accepts no responsibility for “lost emails” or unreturned phone calls

Only complete entries with full fee applicable will be processed. Incomplete entry forms and those with insufficient fees will be returned by the squadding manager with no squad reserved. No entry may be reserved without a completed and fully paid entry form.
