BKAA Gradings

Important Information

  1. Make sure your membership is up to date
  2. You  must have your sensei's permission to enter an examination
  3. Please do not forget to bring your grading card to the examination, as well as your grading fee, if you have not already paid it (should be paid two weeks in advance)
  4. Allow yourself plenty of time to get to the dojo where the examination is taking place
  5. Inform the examiner is you have an injury
  6. Ensure that the examiner signs you card if you pass
  7. Please bring along your weapons (Tanto, Jo, Bokken), if you have them
  8. There must be a minimum of 6 months between gradings, with the exception of White to Red belt (6 weeks)

  1. Standing with Mind and Body co-ordinated
  2. Un-bendable Arm
  3. Irimi 1 & Irimi 2
  4. Tenkan 1 & Tenkan 2
  5. Roll back then forward to kneeling
  6. Roll back then forward to standing
  7. Demonstrate Forward Break-fall
 
  1. Kata Tori Ikkyo Stepback

    Demonstrate Technique

    Demonstrate "Ikkyo" break-fall using a Tenkan 1 escape

 

This grading is "Free of Charge" for members of the BKAA.

Grading can take place after 6 weeks, or when ready.

Returnable "Red Belt" awarded

Yellow            5th Kyu

Orange          4th Kyu

Green            3rd Kyu

Blue               2nd Kyu

Brown            1st Kyu

Black              1st Dan
