MATT ORGANIC- bass, vocals 2004-06
Formerly of various black metal and industrial bands, Matt had known Shiori since their late teens. My condolences to him. However, this failed to stop him forming Visceral Harmony with Shiori and later joining Coybito to fill the Stu-sized hole that had been opened up in the band. More details on Matt can be found here. Long-distance about-farting (Matt lives in Leeds) proved problematic eventually, alas, and Matt went back to Hanging Ditch, who are good.
S. NASTY- BASS, loops 2001-04
He was the deranged Cay fan and toy shop worker from the North East, until one day he woke up to find that he had become one of Coybito. Common problem. Confused, he picked up a bass, and his transition was complete. The Nasty one had never been in a band before, but co-wrote (I Was A) Temptation Island (Whore), did onstage loops for August, and was generally fun to be in a band with. Stu was our typical beer-drinkin' football-watchin' womAn-shaggin' sensitive lout. He left the band in 2003 for reasons that were never made clear, and disappeared entirely in the early months of 2004, meaning his final gig was the slightly weird Foleshill Festival 2003. Stu now lives in Nuneaton with his fiancee.
KYLY FIREMASQUE- dancing and firebreathing, 2005-6:
Leader of the Coybitoid Dance Troupe which haunted Coybito gigs in 2005. Kyly also played Steph Matthews's role (see below) live, and provided Shiori with some sort of stability as she chose to marry him, which came as a shock to everyone. In 2006, Kyly appeared with us a couple of times, breathing fire during 'Nuclear Flame' at our outdoor gigs, much to the surprise of everyone. She's also responsible for the backdrop that adorns Coybito gigs and continues to be involved with Coybito in various ways.
REV BRANDON CASEY- drums, 2007:
A longtime fan of Coybito, who once suggested the band should go down a route "which combines death metal with Erasure", it was inevitable that Brendan should eventually fill the empty drum stool of Coybito, which he did with aplomb at Taylor John's House on April 20, hidden in a hooded top. As well as fronting his own band, Brendan also drums for the Sequins and plays guitar in Church Of Tawt.
FUTUREAL- announcing, 2006:
Brought in to introduce Coybito at their gig at Coybito Towers, Futureal informed the audience that Coybito were "the band you've dreamed of... the band you're screaming out for". Well, of course they are. Futureal lives with Chris Blood and enjoys old-school metal and wrestling.
TWIGGY- dancing, 2003:
Dressed like a Native American squaw at the Foleshill Festival, we knew we had to get Twiggy onstage as a dancer. Indeed, she complied for 'Meeting Up'. Both parties would probably say it was the weirdest thing they ever did.
STEPH MATTHEWS- voice, 2003:
Features on the recorded version of '(I Was A) Temptation Island (Whore)'. On it, Steph plays one of the tempters featured on the sleazy FOX show. If anyone's interested, Chris does the other voice. In the real world, Steph was a trained dancer who lived with Shiori for a while. She now lives in Spain.
ANDY BEARD- drums, 2003:
Drummer at our first "festival" gig, but he's really committed to the rather fab Evenflowerskill, with whom he plays guitar. Andy lives in Hertfordshire and does corporate videos, as well as taking Shiori's wedding photos.
SHEETS- drums, 2002-3:
Sometime drummer and housemate of Boxman's, Sheets left without playing a gig, unable to accept the speed and exciting variations of the terrifying Coybito Invasion. Still, at least he tried. Didn't he? I don't know what Sheets does these days, but I'm sure it's glorious.
MIKEY G- drums, 2002:
Dreadlocked giant drummer in our first ever gig. Went back to his other bands, Twelve Tone Proof and The Levites, and now lives in London doing music stuff.
JAM OLIVER- drums, 2002:
Super-complex drummer abducted from Nasty Jr's band Malachai and forced to play for Coybito. To gain revenge, he drilled confusing beats into the sound. He was set free shortly after, and was eternally grateful. Curiously, his real name is also that of a TV Chef. Jam went on to join every other band in Coventry, including the wonderfully brilliant Dragster and Sci-Fi Mafia, and drums for the UK Subs as well.
