AIRPLAY Sir Cliff Richard has been a professional recording artist for 48 years, during which time he has achieved a great deal of success. Sir Cliff, for example, has had more than 100 hit singles, and has spent more time in the UK charts than any other act. Sir Cliff has also had more top ten hit singles than any other act, and has achieved 14 number one singles. He has sold more singles in the UK charts than any other recording artist. It may then, be a surprise that Sir Cliff has a problem getting his music played on the radio in the UK. The reason for this is age. Sir Cliff is 66, and so, certain radio stations have decided that this is 'too old' for their listeners. They forget that Sir Cliff does not sound 66, and makes good, contemporary music. They also forget that Sir Cliff has fans right across the age spectrum, from young children to elderly people, all of whom should be able to hear their favourite artist on the radio. Unfortunately, Sir Cliff can do nothing about this problem - he can not make the radio stations play his music. However, we, as the record buying, radio listening public, can do something about this deliberate discrimination. Below, you will find links to websites which you can use to find out the contact details for the radio stations in your area. You will also find contact details for Radio 2, the UK's biggest radio station. Please use this information to request that Sir Cliff is played - not only his back catalogue, fine though this is, but his new work too. Very soon Sir Cliff will be releasing a new single in the UK - lets make sure that people have a choice of hearing it. No reasonable fan of Sir Cliff is asking for preferential treatment. We are however, asking for fair treatment, and at the moment, we are not getting it.
