(Photo courtesy J. Arthur Osborne) Beacon Stack was originally the engine house chimney of Carn Camborne Mine, which worked from 1814 to 1887. The building next to the stack is a water tank. The stack was reported as being given to Camborne Town in the 1920's by Ernie Olds, but was blown up on 23rd of July 1971 to make way for residential development. This caused public outrage, but to no avail - the Stack was gone before a preservation order could be obtained. 4. Beacon Old Chapel (pre 1895)
