(Photo and historical account courtesy J. Arthur Osborne) The Great stull at the 412 fathom level. A great disaster occurred here on 20/09/1893, when these massive timbers collapsed, entombing 8 miners. Only one was rescued - Richard Davis of Troon, after being trapped for 40 hours. Is he the man pushing the wagon? J. Arthur Osborne seems to recall that this collapse occurred soon after the above photo was taken.
