Billie had been a close friend of the band before being brought in on bass in December 2002. Even though he'd never played before, he picked it up quickly, and was soon a permanent part of the line-up. At one practice, shortly before the band's come-back gig, he started doing some backing vocals, and his voice worked brilliantly with what was already there.
