WEC Rules for IL2FB/AEP/PF

WEC Rules for IL2FB/AEP/PF. .:Updated August 10th, 2005:.

1. All players are expected to show proper respect and good sportsmanship at all times while participating.

2. WEC games will be held in the format of IL2FB+AEP+PF and will run 3 times a year starting the first weekend of January, May and September.

3. All Squadrons and pilots participating must be registered before competing in a game. Squadrons register in the theaters they wish to participate in. Pilots are considered registered when they are listed in their Squadron’s WEC profile. Substitute pilots from a 3rd Squadron are not allowed in match games.

4. Squadrons that do not fly any match games by the conclusion of the second weekend are barred from competing until the start of the next round. See schedule.

5. Pilot Eligibility:

  1. Pilots must be listed in their Squadron’s WEC profile.

  2. A pilot who participates in the WEC with one Squadron and changes Squadron in the middle of the WEC may not participate with the new Squadron until the start of the next round.

  3. To be eligible for the playoffs a pilot must have flown in at least four WEC games during the initial six weekends.

  4. A pilot may only be listed on one Squadron’s roster in the WEC. Flying for more than one team in the WEC is not allowed regardless of the use of the same or different HyperLobby name.

6. Games can be held anytime on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Games in the initial rounds must be 2v2 or more but once into the playoffs they must be 3v3 or above.  2v2 is not allowed in the playoffs.

7. The WEC will run in six weekly segments followed by playoffs on the seventh, eight, and ninth weekend.  A new Champion will be crowned at the end of the tournament. The Champions will have their Squadron name printed on the trophy on the main WEC page, the Champions may also display the trophy on their website, if they so desire!

8. Participating Squadrons will battle it out for the top position.  Rank will be determined by the number of game wins divided by the total number of games played.

In the initial rounds, the losing Squadron should report each loss immediately following the game, if more then one game is played posting can be done after all games have been completed. Each game is reported and every game stands on its own.  Example, if 3 games are played, Squadron A wins 2, loses 1, Squadron A reports 1 loss and Squadron B reports 2 losses.

Any game that ends in a tie after ALL players have landed and the penalties calculated does not count as a loss for either team and does not get reported. In a playoff game, the tie game must be re-flown.

At the end of the six weeks, the top eight Squadrons will participate in a bracket style playoff to determine the Champion, 2nd place and 3rd place.  The matches will be as follows: 1 vs.8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs.6 and 4 vs.5 in a best of three series. The winners will move on to the second round which will be best of three series.  The third and final playoff round will be a best of five series to determine the Champion and 2nd place.  In the third playoff round, the second round losers will play a best of five series to determine 3rd place. If the Squadrons would prefer to do more games in the playoff rounds, this is acceptable if both squadrons can agree on the number of games.  The losing squadron shall report result of the playoff match on the WEC message board.

If Squads cannot agree on who should host, the hosting arrangements will be as follows:

1st and 2nd playoff rounds: One team host 1 game, other team host the next game and the third game if needed is hosted by the team that hosted first.

Finals and consolidation matches: One team host 2 games, other team host the next 2 games and the last game if needed is hosted by the team that hosted the first game.

The squad with the higher ranking in the initial six weekends chooses if they will host first or second in the sequence.

Playoff matches shall be played according to the scheduled one match a weekend.  If Squadrons cannot play at first coming weekend as scheduled, then they may arrange to have the match during the week if both Squadrons can agree.  If Squadrons don't fly on the scheduled weekend, then the playoff match may be forfeited.  Matches may only be delayed if agreed to in advance by the WEC Admin.

Squadrons should contact the Squadron they will be playing as early as possible in order to schedule the match for the upcoming weekend.  If a match must be delayed or there is a problem getting it scheduled, then WEC Admin must be contacted as soon as possible.  Failure to make a good faith effort to schedule a match in advance, failure to show up for an agreed upon match or delaying a match without the prior approval of the WEC Admin, will be considered as grounds for forfeiture.

9. To qualify as a contender for the Champion's position, each Squadron must participate in at least 20 games during the current session.

10. Once a Squadron reaches 0.500 game win average, they cannot decline a game without being assessed a "two" loss penalty.

11.  Recommended settings:

These are subject to change if both Squadrons agree at the start of the game, N.B. if the Squadrons can NOT agree, the recommended settings and WEC map.1 must be used.

12. Maps. There are 3 WEC maps to choose from.  Maps 1 and 2 are land based and have all aircraft.

Map 3 is Carrier base. Tailhook planes ONLY.

13. A.   Game sequence.

Once in the Briefing lobby, pilots are to choose their aircraft and loadouts as quickly as possible.

When ready, spawn and wait for the rest of the Squadron, do not start your engines.

When all Squadron pilots are in their cockpits, the CO's then inform the host that they are “Ready”.

Once both Squadrons have called “Ready”, the host then types into the chat bar: “>file wec”

The 'Match Monitor' will now begin and cannot be stopped.  (If a match must be restarted after the sequence has been begun, all players must exit back to HL to enable the Match Monitor to be reset and only then can the match be restarted).

Once running, the Match Monitor will announce:

“Welcome to Weekend Challenge"

“Match Monitor is running.  Start your engines"

“Match Monitor: SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE!!!”

Only then are you free to taxi and take off. The battle will last 30 minutes.

During the game, the Match Monitor will announce various times remaining in 10 minute increments.  It will also announce the last 5 minutes, 1 minute and countdown the last 10 seconds.

13.B. The end of the game.

The Match Monitor will then announce:

Match Monitor: ~~~ STOP FIGHTING ~~~”

Turn on nav lights and land at the closest airfield"

“All aircraft are to land within 5 minutes”

“Do not leave the match or your points will be lost!"

Then, after 5 minutes: “Match Monitor: ~~ENGAGEMENT OVER~~”

“CO's tally your team points"

“Loosing team reports the loss on the WEC home page"

Do not leave the game before all the points have been counted, if you do, your points will be lost.

Note: As the Match Monitor file is being run by the hosts computer, the Match Monitors messages will appear as chat from that player.

14. The point system.

The default IL2 points system will be used.  That means that you have to land/re-spawn your plane to get full points. (More information at Sturmovik.de )

The <S> in game command will count the points, determine the winner and take care of the penalties. Except rule # 17 C that must be calculated manually after the game has ended.

15. Apologies to all Fair and Honest Squadrons, however this needs to be part of the WEC rules.  Cheating of any type will be grounds for immediate removal from the WEC competition. Don't embarrass yourself or your Squadron. The following is a list of cheats as agreed upon by the WEC administration.

  1. No slewing or time compression.

  2. No modified aircraft: no “what if” aircraft, aircraft with AI guns, bombers or jets.

  3. No intentional crashing to avoid being shot by an opponent. (see rule 17.c)

  4. No returning to the Briefing room (30 sec max to re-spawn) or using a suspended state to prevent or delay the registering of a death.

  5. No flying by trim alone. Trim in slow increments for damage control and normal aircraft setup is accepted.

  6. Pressing “print screen” to lag up the game is cheating .

  7. Using the utility TrackIR is not a cheat in any way or form.

  8. By default, all aircrafts are targets from when Match Monitor announces: "Scramble Scramble Scramble" until "Stop Fighting."
Squads can make a gentleman's agreement on this rule according to their preferences, but no disputes dealing with this gentleman's agreement will be accepted by WEC.

16. If a player loses his connection before the first engagement, then the game must be restarted. If a player loses his connection after the first engagement, consider this as the destiny of the game and finish it outnumbered if necessary.

If the hosts computer looses connection after the "Match Monitor, 20 minutes remaining" is displayed, then this is counted as a loss to the hosting Squadron.

No player with a ping over 450 is allowed to play in the match. A new host should be tried.

17. Penalties - The following will result in the indicated penalty being assessed. The point penalty is subtracted from the offending team’s score at the conclusion of the game. The team with the highest adjusted score wins. A tie score after penalties are applied is treated as a tie game (rule #8).

  1. A plane brought down by friendly fire will result in -300 points penalty for each occurrence (calculated by the “stats”).

  2. Colliding with a team-mate will result in -300/600 points for each occurrence (calculated by the “stats”).

  3. Intentional crashing or ejecting (not hit) will result in a -100 points penalty for each occurrence.

  4. Flying outside of the map border continously for more than 30 secs will result in a lost match penalty.

  5. Failure to land after the game has ended or not making the 5 min time limit will result in a lost match penalty.

  6. Taking off before the Match Monitor announces  “Match Monitor: SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE SCRAMBLE!!!” will result in a lost match penalty.

  7. If both sides cannot agree on an incident involving a penalty and it would change the outcome of the game, the game must be re-flown. Screen shots, not violating rule 15. F, or “tracks” can help settle such questions.

18. It’s recommended that one player on each team records a “Track” during the game as a safety net should a dispute arise.

The WEC Admin may ask for proof that games have been flown, evidence of match arrangements, and/or any other information should there be a problem or any questionable activity that must be investigated. Squadrons should use their common sense and make sure to document anything that may be questioned. Screen shots of game scores, not violating rule 15. F, or Messages, tracks, Chat logs and emails may be used as evidence. Failure to provide supporting evidence could result in games being invalidated, forfeiture, or other sanctions. Squadrons that experience disagreements or disputes should make an effort to solve this between them selves and only use WEC as arbitrator, in case they fail to reach agreement.

19. HAVE FUN
