Byffen is made up of two islands - the larger, Ñurrtef, to the west and Zerra to the east - and is a major maritime power. She has interests in all the other nations on the north shore, and involvement with many in the south also. Many rulers regard Byffen with some fear, such is the power she wields. She even supports a colony at Valug in Belldar to control the Llyler Straits.

Delmop is the largest and most important city in the world. She owes her power to her position as a trade and administration centre rather than through any particular exports. However, there is a guild of alchemists in an old fortress just outside the city, which has had quite an influence on the city's fortunes. Delmop also has a sizable fishing fleet.
