[Sabre]

Sabre was a member of Delmop's Polita when first I met him, but unfortunately was somewhat in disgrace having upset his superiors there. It was soon after returning from Aulis's island, and the rest of us had met up in an inn to discuss the strange turn of events that had taken place there.

Sabre, it turned out, had been investigating a series of unusual murders. Each time, the corpse was wrinkled and dried out in an unnatural manner. However, as soon as Sabre started to make inquiries, the case was immediately handed over to the Oculus, it being strictly-speaking within their remit. Any attempt Sabre made to pursue the affair, led to him being warned off by his superiors.

After the body of Barilius was found floating in the harbour, also strangely dessicated, Sabre refused to leave things alone. Instead, he immediately went to Barilius's villa to make inquiries, but this led to him being suspended from duty. His superiors made it quite clear that somebody somewhere really did not want the Polita involved in this at all.

That would probably have been that, had Sabre not been put in touch with us by Eulac's friend, Ulairius, who obviously concerned that somebody high up in the Oculus was trying to cover things up. Sabre's membership of the Polita was of great use to us as we made our investigations, even if he was not supposed to be on duty. Somehow he got involved in the robbery at the Chaukad Trading Company, although I am sure unwittingly, and was as keen as the rest of us to make the final trip to Chaukad, and help us destroy the shadow creatures at their source.

After the trip to Chaukad, we all went our separate ways, and I never did hear what happened to Sabre. I think he intended to go back to Delmop and try to get himself reinstated in the Polita.
