If you know someone else who has a Wizard, I recomend that you
make a Wizard to Wizard cable. This will alow you to chat and
send files to each other. Me and my friend use the cable that I
made to chat in lessons :-)
To make it, you will kneed:
- 2 Paris of old headphones (another pair may be useful if
you mess up like I did) *
- Wire cutters
- Knife
- Wire Strippers
- Connectivity Tester
- Lots of Patience *
* You definately kneed these things. The others can be
inprovised
This is what you do:
- Cut of the headphones about 5 cm down the wire
- Cut away about 3-4 mm of plastic of the plug so that it
will fit into the wizard
- Strip the outer wire so that you can see 3 coloured wires
- Strip away the coloured wire protecting the 3 small wires
- There whould be a red wire, a white wire and a brown
wire. If they are not these colours, then get your
conductivity tester (i improvised by using a battery and
a light bulb) and see which wire conducts with the tip,
the middle and the bottom of the plug.
- Connect the wire that goes to the tip of the plug to the
wire that goes to the middle of the plug and vice versa
(the red and white ones). Then connect the other ones
together (brown)
- Check that the tip of one plug it connected to the middle
part of the other plug and vice versa. Then check that
the bases of both plugs are connected.
- Then plug it into 2 wizards, get 2 copys of wizterm with
the same baud rate, and chat! (or you can use Wiz2Wiz_v1 in the downloads section if you don't
like C programs)
