PLAYER
OF THE YEAR: KEVIN JONES
Kevin
Jones finally lifted a trophy at the 14th attempt, when he was
awarded the Player of The Year award at yesterdays presentation
day. He won the award with 76 points, narrowly beating last
seasons winner, Damien Askey (72 points), into second place. The
two players had been outstanding all season and were well ahead
of third placed Matt Craig (57 points) and fourth placed Paul
Seymour (39 points). However it was Jones who secured the award
with fine performances in the final two games of the season.
Elsewhere Paul Seymour won an incredible 10th Golden Boot award
after topping the scoring charts with 9 goals. Again this trophy
was fiercely contested in an unusually low scoring year and
anyone of five players could have won it in the final game of
the season. However Seymour showed the quality that has made him
the clubs record goalscorer and beat Rob Evans and Matt Maskery
by one goal. Ben Clarke was awarded the Clubman of The Year
award for showing great bravery and resilience to come back from
an horrific motorbike accident. Clarke broke several bones and
had a metal plate inserted in his skull after colliding with a lamppost,
yet he recovered to play in twenty games this season. A new
award was added to the array of gold on offer this year and Dean
Hickin walked away with the inaugural Goal of The Season award
for his effort against London Road Tavern.

PRESENTATION
DAY ANNOUNCED
The
end of season awards day will be held on Sunday 27th May.
Negotiations are currently under way to find a suitable location
to hold this prestigious event, although anywhere that serves
chips and curry will be acceptable. The day is long awaited by
the players, not because they stand a chance of winning the
Player of the Year, Clubman or Golden Boot trophies, but because
they get to spend the whole day and night in the pub. Managers
Plant and Craig will be the guests of honour to present the
trophies, but only if they can find the missing Player of the
Year votes. Who will join the list of Wheatsheaf's trophy
winning legends? wheatsheafstoresfc.co.uk
will bring you all the results and pictures here first!

FINAL
DAY DEFEAT FOR STORES
Wheatsheaf
went down 2-1 to Gradeword Heating in the final game of the
season. It was a close match with only Gradeword's unbeaten
record and Wheatsheaf's pride at stake, as both clubs had already
secured 1st and 5th places respectively. Stores took the lead in
the first half through a Matt Maskery goal, but Gradeword leveled
just before half time. The second half was an even contest with
both teams creating chances. However it was Gradeword who
snatched victory with a goal on 65 minutes.

Wheatsheaf
will be required to play Gradeword Heating this Sunday, after
their rivals successfully overturned the leagues decision to award
