A product of our successful youth policy Mark Harvey was offered a schoolboy contract at the age of 21 (he was a slow learner). Having slowly worked his way up to the first team he's now firmly established in the heart of the Wheatsheaf defence. "Spider", as he is known to his team-mates, has twice won the coveted footballer of the year trophy and has become feared by opposition forwards who dread the thought of a clash with the best defender in the league. Mark semi-retired in 2004 after suffering a serious back injury in a crash with a police car, which had blue flashing lights and deafening sirens. The incident showed he hadn't lost his appetite for a good challenge, but maybe his eyesight.
