"Joey"
Seymour joined the club in the summer of 1993 as a clumsy "rough
diamond" of a centre forward. After a couple of seasons with the Wheatsheaf
Academy, under the personal guidance of Tommy "golden boots" Plant, he
emerged as a polished muscle bound striker with electric pace and a gift for
scoring goals out of nothing and eventually he eclipsed his mentor by becoming
top scorer for the last two seasons. The former kick boxing champion as swept
aside defenders all season and has scored in all but one league game in the
current campaign, a truly remarkable achievement. In
1997 Joe was awarded a bravery medal for rescuing two people from a
burning building. He has now won the coveted 'Player of the Year' trophy
a record four times and in 2005 became the first player to keep the
trophy. |
