Wheatsheaf
went into the game needing a victory to get their season back on track
following last weeks 7-0 drubbing by Three Tunns. Manager Tony Craig
replaced himself with Karl Rainbird at the back and brought Matt Roberts
back onto the left side of midfield. Former Stores player Baggo lined up
in midfield for Britannia.
The
opening fifteen minutes of the game made for an even contest, however ten
minutes of madness cost Stores the game. Keeper Dyche had a nightmare
spell as he spilled the ball twice to gift Britannia two easy goals. In
between Matt Craig gave the ball away in midfield and Britannia were able
to break away and slot in the second. Wheatsheaf created a couple of
chances for themselves but were unable to convert. Rob Evans towering
header from Seymour's excellent cross was palmed over by the goalkeeper.
Matt Maskery also went close with an effort from 18 yards, but his shot
sailed just wide.

Managers
Plant and Craig decided to end Dyche's nightmare early and brought him off
at half-time. He was replaced in goal by Stanway, who was making his first
appearance between the sticks since the defeat to Slaters Ales. Wheatsheaf
started the second half brightly, but were unable to create any real goal scoring
opportunities. Stanway made a couple of vital interceptions around the
edge of his box as Britannia were beginning to stretch their opponents. On
70 minutes they finally made the breakthrough when the right midfielder
broke clear, took the ball around the goalkeeper and slotted it into the
net. Despite the efforts of Matt Roberts and Kev Jones, who battled well
in midfield, Wheatsheaf never really looked like scoring and will be
disappointed with the performance. They will need to improve next week as
they host Britannia at Fenton Park.
