COBBY
BREAKS FOOT
Wheatsheaf
hard-man Chris Cobby will miss the next five weeks of the season
due to a broken foot. Cobby suffered the injury to his fifth
metatarsal, two weeks ago, but couldn't be bothered to go to the
hospital until today. Doctors at the University Hospital of
North Staffordshire said the break was so bad that they nearly
had to put him down, until they realised they had mixed up his
X-ray with the hospital guard dog, who had been run over earlier
in the day. The club has ordered Cobby an oxygen tent, a team of
the countries leading physiotherapists and a bottle of Calpol to
aid his recovery. This injury is sure to cause a media frenzy on
a similar scale to when Wayne Rooney broke his foot prior to the
World Cup. Managers Plant and Craig will now need to find a
suitable replacement at left-back.

EVANS
MISSES GAME TO SHARPEN UP HIS WIZARDRY SKILLS
Rob
Evans has given managers Plant and Craig a major headache for this
weekends game against Lambourne by declaring himself unavailable. The
management thought maybe he had picked up a serious injury in last
weeks game against Gradeword or perhaps he was going on a family
holiday. However information from a confidential source has revealed the
real reason for Evans absence. This weekend sees the release of the
fourth Harry Potter movie and Evans has booked front row seats to watch
his idol in action. Apparently, unable to contain his excitement, Rob
rushed down to the cinema last week to book the first available tickets.
He was seen pushing through hoards of screaming schoolchildren to get to
the front of the queue, where he booked tickets for Sunday morning.
Plant and Craig were said to be fuming when they heard the news of his
new commitments and will give him a lengthy spell on the
sidelines. Unfortunately they can expect similar problems in the spring
when Toy Story 3: 'The Revenge of the Barbie Dolls' is released.

Re-arranged
Fixture
Wheatsheaf have arranged
to play a league game against Sea Lion at Fenton Park this
coming Sunday. Stores had originally been given the week off
due to the cancellation of the fixture against Gradeword Heating. However
Sea Lion also had a free week and so the two clubs have decided
to bring the game forward to avoid a potential fixture pile up at the
end of the season.

Wheatsheaf
Stores sit proudly at the top of the table tonight after their third
straight victory. They crushed Newcastle side Seabridge F.C. 5-1 on
Sunday, a victory which takes them three points clear of second placed
Travellers Rest. Manager Tom Plant was ecstatic with his teams
performance especially with a number of key players missing.

Return
of the Mask
Striker
Matt Maskery continues to set the second division alight after
notching his third goal in two games. Matt scored the winner against
Forge Inn with a typical goal poachers finish after good work by Joey
Seymour. Speaking after in the pub he said "I will score 20 goals
in this league this year easy". Only time will tell if this new
found confidence will bring goals, but the early signs are that Maskery
is looking better than ever.

Evans
Surgery Shocker!
Striker
Rob Evans is today undergoing a very serious operation to rebuild
his face. It comes
after his nose was shattered by the right boot of Craig 'Bezza'
Berrisford during a pre-season training session two weeks ago. The collision caused
some of the worst injuries medical experts had ever seen and they
will have to perform surgery similar to that of John
Travolta in the film Face/Off. Rob (pictured above) yesterday met
with Michael Jackson's Plastic surgeon to discuss the procedure.
It is hoped that the operation will allow him to face the world
again, as he has been ordered to remain indoors during
daylight hours, so that he won't scare children enjoying their
summer holidays. His doctor, Mr Jim L. Fixeet, said that Evans
should make a full recovery in 2-3 weeks. Evans absence has caused
a selection problem for Wheatsheaf, as a result managers
Plant and Craig will be looking to bring in a replacement.

Chesterton
Charities
Wheatsheaf
have been confirmed as one of the eight teams competing in this
seasons Chesterton Charities Competition. They have been drawn against
Shamblers in the Quarter-Finals, who play in the P.D.S.L.
Premier Division. The Chesterton Charities is an ever popular
pre-season tournament, which is annually played in the first week
of August. Stores will be looking for a good run in a tournament they
nearly won in 2003.

The
Wheatsheaf Stores F.C. board have officially announced today that the
team will be moving to a new ground for the forthcoming 2005/2006
season. After weeks of negotiations with the City Council, Secretary
Tony Craig has secured the use of a pitch at Fenton Park.
Wheatsheaf will play on Pitch Three and will have showers and changing
facilities for the first time in several years. This is a major coup for
the club and signals the start of a bright new era for the team.
|
Shortly
after announcing the move to a new pitch, Wheatsheaf were given
another major boost. Talented midfielder Kevin 'Giggsy' Jones has
shelved his retirement plans and instead signed a 12 month
extension to his contract. Managers Craig and Plant are delighted at
the news as Jones is a key member of the squad. They also revealed
that several new signings are due to be announced. They were unable to
provide any names, but said that negotiations are well advanced and
that the new players would greatly improve the squad.
