Ground Information: The Barton Stadium was formally known as the 'Great Western' because of the close proximity to the old Over & Wharton train station and pub (now the top house) named the 'great western.'

The ground also doubled as a Greyhound racing venue when it was revamped in the chairmen Reg Barton era of the clubs History. That is how the ground got the name 'the Barton stadium.'

The present ground has recently been given a face-lift, with the main stand returning to the colour of blue after a previous eye dazzling color scheme of yellow. The club would like to either give the ground a complete development or to relocate to another site. However this is currently not possible with a long-standing argument between the club and the town council of who actually owns the ground.

The ground is home to a seated main stand, which includes a social club, function rooms, changing rooms, press boxes and dugouts. Opposite this stand is the Kingsway stand which is a covered terrace where the more vocal supporters congregate. Behind both goals are sparse open standing areas.

Directions
From North: Exit M6 at junction 19 and take A556 towards Northwich and Davenham, then follow A5018 to Winsford, From South: Exit M6 at junction 18 and follow A54 through Middlewich to Winsford. At crossroads turn right onto industrial estate, follow to roundabout and take 1st exit left. Follow road and ground will become visible.

Nearest Station: Winsford (1.5 miles) - TO WALK FROM STATION - Go up steps outside station and cross the road. Head left towards roundabout. Carry on this road (Station Road) for about a mile walking down hill. Once you pass a B&B turn right (Kingsway) carry on up to road. Ground is then on your right hand side. Winsford Station is on the Liverpool to Birmingham line via Crewe.

Pub/Food: If travelling by train then you will pass three pubs if you walk down Station Road. The first opposite the station is the Brighton Bell which is a large pub with a wide choice of beer and a good selection of food. Further up Station Road you will pass the Oddfellows which is popular local pub with games room. Further up Station road you will then pass the Princess Feathers which is a real ale fans dream, having won a number of awards for its real ale on tap.

by the ground the nearest pub is the top house which is on the corner of Wharton Road and easily visible from the Stadium car park.

No fan should miss the excellent Winsford United social bar which is behind the main stand, now named the 'blues bar'. A wide selection of beers on offer and having had much work done on it you should make full use, not only an excellent place for non league banter but you are also helping the club. This bar also has the brilliant feature of having a view of the pitch and on cold December evenings its a life saver!

For food the ground has also the usual food on offer. Near the Ground Wharton Road has a chip shop and a pie shop. There is also a McDonalds down the road on the retail park along with a 'brewsters' theme pub which serves meals all day.
