Street Lighting in Carmarthenshire

Revo 'Dalek' in Kidwelly

Carmarthenshire is the largest of the three counties in West Wales which make up the former county of Dyfed.

The majority of street lighting in the county is still low pressure sodium (SOX), with high pressure sodium starting to make an appearance in town centres and on main roads. In the towns and villages between Carmarthen and Llanelli, the majority of lighting is mounted on power poles with metal outreach brackets (as pictured left in Kidwelly).

The most popular main road lanterns in Carmarthenshire are the Revo 'Dalek' (1950s / early '60s); Revo Lucidor, Eleco GR100, GEC Z9454 & Z9554 (1960s - 1980s), and more recently the Philips MA series.
