This photo shows the SOX lighting shortly after you leave the
A484 bypass the Carmarthen end to enter Kidwelly. In the foreground
is a 35W Revo 'Dalek' lantern on telegraph pole bracket, and
behind the two vans is a 35W Revo Lucidor, also on a telegraph
pole bracket.
There are three or four similar light fittings here, all with
different lanterns, so I have no idea which lanterns are original
and which are replacements!

shown in the background of the previous photo.

Another photo of the Lucidor, from the other side. Here you
can clearly see the photocell, obviously added at a later date.

Philips MA90 on column, part of a 1980s installation towards
the centre of Kidwelly. The other side of the castle GEC Z9454
lanterns feature on the columns.
The black and gold paintwork is a recent addition, and matches
that used in Carmarthen from 2001.
Update 13 December 2004 : some of these
columns have now been replaced by new aluminium Nedal columns
and modern MA90s with gear.

An example of the traditional style lanterns which light the
streets which lead to the castle. Tim Luck believes this is a
Windsor lantern made by D. W. Windsor Ltd., with a modern refractor.

This photo shows a 90W SOX Revo 'Dalek' lantern on a column
lighting the bridge over the castle moat towards the town centre.
As far as I know this is the only Revo on a column in Kidwelly,
and appears to separate the 1980s MA90 installation and the GEC
Z9454 installation the other side of the bridge.
Update 13 December 2004: this column was
replaced during 2004 with a new Nedal aluminium one and modern
MA90 with gear.

A close up of the above Revo 'Dalek' lantern. You can clearly
see a circular section towards the front of the lantern which
has been obscured, presumably to stop glare into the houses opposite.
A two part photocell unit has been added to this lantern - note
the detector on top of the canopy.

Another Revo 'Dalek', this time on telegraph pole bracket. As
with Pembrey and Burry Port, there are a large number of telegraph
pole fittings in Kidwelly, but less 'Dalek' lanterns. Possibly
at one time, these lit the whole town, as with Pembrey and Burry
Port.
Note what appears to be another white photocell box (see the
Revo Lucidor A on page 1).

Another telegraph pole bracket fitting, this time with the standard
1990s MA90 replacement. More recently, longer MA90s with gear
have been used.

A slightly unusual bracket fitting with a longer extension to
the top. This time the lantern used is an Eleco GR100.
