AEI Star Cone

The village of Peniel is located along the main road between Carmarthen and Lampeter.

The main road is lit by unremarkable Philips MA 135W SOX, but venturing a little way along a minor road in the village takes you to this unusual AEI Star Cone lantern, a predecessor to the Beeby / Beta 1 design.

This lantern's fitted with a GLS lamp, but it appears to no longer be working - maybe because the building it's on the side of (possibly part of the village church) is to let.

I wonder how long it will last when new occupants take over the building?

A very similar shot of the lantern. Compare this to the Beta 1 on the Nantgaredig or Lampeter pages. The main differences between this lantern and the Beta 1 design are the Star Cone's curved edges and larger canopy.

Here you can see a side on view of the lantern, which is clearly within the grounds of the building. You can also see clearly the building is to let, and if you're interested, you can also see the number to call...

This photo was taken just a couple of weeks earlier - again, not a great shot, but it does show the "To Let" sign is a recent addition.
