St Clears is a small town on the A40 between Carmarthen and Haverfordwest.

The town centre is now lit by these Urbis Abbey heritage style SON lanterns, which are a recent addition. They are similar to the WRTL Mercia lanterns in Llandovery car park.

Further along the road, the A4066 to Laugharne, GEC Z9454 lanterns on metal columns light up the town.

This Revo Lucidor 'B' with integral gear 35W SOX lantern was spotted in the village of Pwll Trap, just outside St Clears on the old main road towards Haverfordwest (it is now bypassed). Two of these remain in the very centre of the village, so it's possible these were the only lanterns in the village as none of the surrounding lanterns are top entry.

The only other place I have seen surviving Lucidor 'with gear' 35W SOX lanterns is outside Llandybie in the village of Pentre Gwenlais.

Note the rust from the bracket on the centre of the lantern top! The bracket looks very similar to those housing the Revo Prefects near Llandybie.

Update: Both Lucidors were removed sometime before January 2005, being replaced by side entry Philips MI26 lanterns on shorter brackets.

This REVO Lucidor 'A' lantern is the larger, less gear version of the one above, and was photographed in St Clears. This is the rarer, older design of the Lucidor, before the side entry shoe was extended.

This one is fitted with a 55W SOX lamp and is installed in the middle of a row of 55W Relite Geminis. This is unusual as the Lucidor 'A' is usually seen with a 90W SOX lamp. The smaller Lucidor 'B' design is too small to fit a 55W lamp and REVO didn't make a Lucidor specific to that size.

This REVO Lucidor 'A' with integral gear was photographed in Meidrim, near St Clears. This is the integral gear version of the lantern above.

Integral gear Lucidor 'A's are rare in the area - this is the only installation I'm aware of in Carmarthenshire, although there are some in Pembrokeshire in Hakin, Milford Haven.
